Jianping Ye

Jianping Ye is a Professor at the Shanghai Jiaotong University and Associate Director of Shanghai Diabetes Institute. He was a Professor at the Pennington Biomedical Research Center, Louisiana State University for 15 years before current position in Shanghai, China. His research interest is pathogenesis of type 2 diabetes with representative works including:(1) Chronic inflammation in obesity is a result of adipose tissue hypoxia to promote the tissue remodeling ;(2) The gut microbiota product butyrate inhibits dietary obesity to protect insulin sensitivity;(3) ATP over production is a risk factor of insulin resistance;(4) Leptin is required for the therapeutic effects of gastric bypass surgery. He has published more than 160 peer-reviewed studies with citation over 16 thousand times and H index 66 (Google Scholar). He is currently the Chief editor of “Obesity Medicine”, and Associate editor of “Acta of Pharmaceutica Sinica B”. He served in the editorial boards of “Diabetes’, “American Journal of Physiology”, and “International Journal of Obesity”, etc., and grant review panels at IPOD (NIH) and the American Diabetes Association. He is the founding vice President (2004-2006) and President (2007-2009) of CADA。
